Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder: Victim’s Heartbreaking Diary Entry Revealed Hours Before Her Death
The father of the trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at the hospital where she worked has shared the contents of his daughter's final diary entry. In an interview, he revealed that his daughter was an exceptionally dedicated student, studying 10-12 hours a day to fulfill her dreams. In her last diary entry, written on the day of her death before her night shift at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital, she expressed her aspiration to become a gold medalist in her MD course by excelling in her exams, reflecting her commitment to her goals and the medical field.
The diary entry was made shortly before she left for her shift, as reported by India Today. Her father described their lives as shattered by the tragedy and spoke about the sacrifices made to support her education and career. While nothing can replace the loss, he hopes for justice and would find some solace in seeing the perpetrator punished.
Initially, the family was informed that the woman had committed suicide. However, it was later revealed that she was raped and murdered. The autopsy indicated she had been assaulted between 3 am and 5 am while resting in the seminar hall after a meal with colleagues. The report detailed severe injuries, including bleeding from multiple areas, genital torture, and a broken throat cartilage from being throttled before being smothered to death.
A civic volunteer has been arrested in connection with the crime, and the Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case.
